FARMINGDALE, NY – Senior Chris Barsky (Holland, PA) had a goal and an assist to lead The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team to its second-straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Farmingdale State Wednesday afternoon in Farmingdale, NY. The Ducks improve to 2-0 in Skyline Conference play, extending their league unbeaten streak to 20 games, while improving their overall record to 4-3-2. The Ducks handed the Rams (4-4-1, 2-2 Skyline) their first loss in four matches and their second defeat in Skyline Conference action. Stevens now sits tied for second place in the league standings with the Rams and Mount Saint Mary.

Barsky put the Ducks on the board with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute for his first goal of the season. He knifed through the Rams’ defensive third and found himself alone in front of the goal and beat the keeper for the score.

Barsky then found freshman Erick Muse (Candia, NH) for his second goal of the season and Stevens’ second goal of the match seven minutes later. Barsky crossed the ball into Muse who sent a diving header into the net to put the Ducks up 2-0.

Stevens tacked on a third goal late as senior Steve Liebezeit (Pompton Lakes, NJ) scored his seventh goal in the Ducks’ last six games. Sophomore Craig Moquin (Breinigsville, PA) sent a cross into the box from the right side where Liebezeit headed in the score in the 87th minute. Liebezeit leads the team with seven goals this season.

Stevens controlled possession throughout, outshooting Farmingdale State, 38-4. The Ducks held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Stevens kept Farmingdale State goalkeeper Patrick Santiago busy the entire match, with the Rams keeper finishing with 15 saves, including 12 in the second half. Junior goalie Chris Celentano (Newton, NJ) made one stop for the Ducks in recording his sixth shutout of the season.
