HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (January 25, 2005) – Sophomore Kelsea Wilks (El Sobrante, Calif.) led the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team with 19 points as the Ducks defeated Centenary College on Wednesday night. Wilks, who scored nine of the Ducks first 11 points, totaled 12 points from three-point range. With the win, the Ducks improve to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference while the Cyclones drop to 6-11 overall and 1-5 in the league.
Leading by only three, 13-10, at the 9:17 mark, freshman Dani Dudek (Rockaway, N.J.) hit a shot from downtown, sparking a 12-4 run to open the Ducks’ lead to 25-14 with 3:00 remaining in the half. Led by Wilks with 12 points, Stevens entered the break with a 29-15 advantage. The Ducks kept their intensity strong in the second half and never led by less than 14 points.
Sophomore Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo.) finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds while senior Jenna Gambino (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points.
Stevens shot 43.8 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the free-throw line in the game. They forced 34 turnovers by the Cyclones.
The Ducks return to action on Saturday, January 28 when they travel to Old Westbury to face SUNY Old Westbury at 2:00 p.m.
