HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 24, 2007) – Junior guard/forward Stephanie Roberts (Bakersfield, Calif.) and junior guard Laura Feigus (Colts Neck, N.J.) scored 19 points apiece as the Centenary College women’s basketball team posted a 58-55 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday at the Canavan Arena in Hoboken, N.J. Freshman forward Brittany Fuller (East Rockaway, N.Y.) tallied 16 points, five blocks and three rebounds for the Ducks.
Trailing 53-44 with less than five minutes to go, Stevens (14-4, 7-2 Skyline) engineered a 9-0 run in the span of 3:11 to tie the game. First, sophomore guard Dani Dudek (Rockaway, N.J.) drained a three-pointer. Then, Dudek made a lay-up to narrow the margin to 53-49 with 3:01 left. Fuller followed with a jumper, and junior guard Jean Matusiak (Queens, N.Y.) knotted the score at 53-all on a basket with 1:14 remaining.
Feigus responded with a huge three-pointer for Centenary (11-4, 5-4 Skyline) as the Cyclones took a 56-53 lead with 44 seconds left on the clock. Stevens came right back as freshman guard/forward Sarah Gehring (Spokane, Wash.) hit a pull-up jumper in the lane to bring the Ducks to within one point (56-55) with 32 seconds to go.
Following a missed free throw by junior guard Ayana Way (Edison, N.J.), Stevens had a chance to take the lead, but Fuller missed a three-pointer from the left wing. The Ducks retained possession after the ball went out of bounds off the Cyclones. On the ensuing in-bounds play, Roberts forced a jump-ball with 7.9 seconds remaining as she tied up junior forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo.). Centenary took over possession of the ball.
With 6.5 seconds left, Feigus was fouled, but she missed the front end of a one-and-one. Way came up with a big offensive rebound and was fouled. She calmly stepped to the line and knocked down two free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining to put the Cyclones up by three points. With no timeouts, Stevens raced down court, but Enright turned the ball over as her pass sailed out of bounds with 0.9 seconds to go.
Gehring finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for the Ducks. Enright had 10 points and eight rebounds. Dudek chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds for Stevens, which had its five-game win streak snapped.

Roberts posted nine rebounds, three assists and three steals to go along with her 19 points. She made three three-pointers in the game, including a 40-footer at the buzzer to end the first half. Feigus connected on five shots from downtown and collected five rebounds.
