Brabender and Woo Lead Swimming Teams Against Adelphi

Sophomore Emily Woo won three individual races against Adelphi.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (January 31, 2007) – Despite a strong performance the Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's swim teams dropped close decisions to Adelphi University on Wednesday night.  Although the women were defeated 54-41 sophomore Emily Woo and senior Lorrie Brabender won three events apiece for the Ducks.  The men dropped a 58-35 decision and had two swimmers win one event each.

Senior Vadim Gordin earned a top finish in the 100-yard backstroke for Stevens.  Freshman Kevin Kim also earned a first-place finish for the Ducks in the 200-yard freestyle.

Woo earned first-place finishes in the 200- and 100-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard breaststroke events.  Brabender earned wins in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke.

The swimming teams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Kings Point, N.Y. to face U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in its last regular season meet of the season at 1 p.m.
