ROCHESTER, N.Y. (October 7, 2007) – Junior back Hope Fulgencio recorded what proved to be the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in the first half as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team recorded its fourth-straight victory with a 1-0 win over St. John Fisher College on Sunday in Rochester, N.Y. With the victory, the Ducks improved to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the Empire 8.

Following a scoreless first 42 minutes, Fulgencio took advantage of a play near the box as she settled a pass from sophomore midfielder/forward Leslie Kallberg and chipped a shot over Cardinals' sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Martin (Marcellus, N.Y.). Kallberg's assist was the first of her career.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jenn Pontier made the goal stand up as she posted her fourth straight shutout. Pontier made one save on the afternoon. Martin stopped a season-high 14 shots for St. John Fisher, which fell to 2-8-1 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8 following its third-straight loss.

For the game, Stevens owned a 25-6 advantage in shots. The Ducks also had four corners to just two by the Cardinals.

Stevens will return to action on Saturday when it takes on Nazareth College at noon in Hoboken, N.J. The Ducks and Golden Flyers are currently tied for third place in the Empire 8 with 12 points apiece.
