ANNANDALE, N.Y. (February 28, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team defeated Bard College in four games (30-19, 30-17, 19-30, 30-22) in NECVA Metro action on Wednesday night in Annandale, N.Y. Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) led the Ducks with 13 kills along with one ace and three blocks. With its sixth straight win, Stevens improved to 19-5 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
Senior middle/outside hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y.) was second on the Ducks with 10 kills, one ace and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter/setter Joe Trinsey (Wilmington, Del.) was third on the team with nine kills and two aces. Junior libero Josh Coffing (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the team with seven digs. Setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) was the Ducks’ leading setter with 38 assists, while freshman outside hitter Andrew Fessler (Farmington, N.Y.) picked up 11assists in one game.
For Bard, senior outside hitter Dylon Cummings (Aptos, Calif.) led the team with 17 kills, two blocks and 15 digs. Junior outside hitter Zachary Hamaker (Walnut Creek, Calif.) chipped in with 15 kills, two blocks and 40 assists.
Stevens will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Riverdale, N.Y. to face the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Polytechnic University. The tri-match will begin at 11 a.m.
