HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 20, 2007) – All 18 players got to participate as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team improved to 12-0 in the NECVA Metro Division with a sweep of Bard College (30-15, 30-14, 30-28) on Tuesday night in Hoboken, N.J. With the win, No. 6 ranked Stevens improved to 25-5 overall.
Senior outside hitter Sean Whelan (Springfield, Mass.) led the team in kills with 11 in three games. Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) was second on the team with eight kills. Sophomore libero Michael Bertucci (Gibbsboro, N.J.) was the team leader in digs with six. Setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) led the Ducks with 24 assists, while freshman outside hitter Andrew Fessler (Farmington, N.Y.) chipped in with 20.
For Bard, sophomore middle hitter Luke Bolton (Durango, Colo.) led the team with seven kills and seven digs. Freshman setter Steven Alday (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the team in assists with 16, while sophomore middle hitter Henry Schenker (Verona, N.J.) totaled nine digs on the day.
As a team, Stevens out-hit Bard .324 to .060.
Stevens will be back in action on Friday, March 23 when it hosts top-ranked Juniata College at 7 p.m. This match will be available at www.duckcast.com.
