BROOKLYN, N.Y. (March 25, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team earned wins over Ramapo College (30-25, 30-23, 30-23) and Polytechnic University (30-9, 30-20, 30-16) on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Ducks improved to 27-6 overall and 14-0 in the NECVA conference with the win.
Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) led the Ducks against Ramapo with 14 kills, one ace, three blocks and five digs. Sophomore outside hitter/setter Joe Trinsey (Wilmington, Del.) was second on the team with nine kills and two aces. Senior middle hitter Will Foley (Clifton Park, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills and three blocks. Setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) was the leading setter with 41 assists. Schulte also added five digs.
Against Polytechnic, Bochicchio led the team once again with seven kills and one ace. Senior outside hitter Sean Whelan (Springfield, Mass.) contributed six kills, four aces and two blocks, while John Dennan (Webster Groves, Mo.) registered four kills, one ace and one block. Sophomore libero Mike Bertucci (Gibbsboro, N.J.) led the team with seven digs. Schulte totaled 17 assists, while freshman outside hitter Andrew Fessler (Farmington, N.Y.) had 10.
Stevens will be back in action on Friday when it competes in the NECVA Tournament.
