HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 9, 2007) – Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) led the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team with 15 kills, three aces and six digs as it defeated Vassar College (30-25, 30-25, 30-24) on Friday night in Hoboken, N.J. With the win, No. 6 ranked Stevens improved to 24-5 overall, while No. 15 Vassar dropped to 7-10 with the loss.
Sophomore middle hitter Andrew Cranford (Bel Air, Md.) was second on the team with 11 kills. Senior middle hitter/outside hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y.) and junior outside hitter/libero Brian Carlson (West Seneca, N.Y.) each chipped in with 14 digs apiece. Setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) led the Ducks with 45 assists.
Freshman outside hitter Phil Tully (Huntington Station, N.Y.) led Vassar with 11 kills and one dig. Junior libero Kyle Giunta (Penfield, N.Y.) totaled 12 digs. Sophomore setter John Kessenich (Chicago, Ill.) tallied 27 assists.
Stevens will be back in action on Tuesday, March 20 when it hosts Bard College at 7 p.m.
