CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (April 7, 2007) – Sophomore Joe Gunshor (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBIs, but the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team dropped a 10-6 decision to DeSales University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Ducks dropped to 11-11 on the year.
After falling behind 6-2, Stevens scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score at 6-6.
With one out, freshman Eddie Daniele (Colts Neck, N.J.) reached on a fielding error to score senior Eric McCormick (Edison, N.J.) and senior Andrew Tesoriero (Dunedin, Fla.) for the Ducks first two runs of the inning. On a RBI ground out by freshman Russ Grimes (South Brunswick, N.J.), junior David Katusa (Franklin Township, N.J.) brought the Ducks to within one. Daniele scored the tying run on a single by Gunshor.
DeSales came back to score four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead for good.
Stevens jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, but DeSales scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Sophomore Bill Jennings (Southampton, N.J.) suffered the loss for the Ducks as he gave up four runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Stevens will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Purchase, N.Y. to play Manhattanville College in a doubleheader. The first game will begin at noon.
