Men's Volleyball Takes Down NECVA Metro Rival Bard College, 3-1

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (March 18, 2009) – Junior outside hitter Andrew Fessler of the sixth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team led the Ducks to a 3-1 win over Bard College Wednesday night in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. Fessler landed 14 kills, three service aces and three total blocks as the Ducks defeated the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Metro rival by the scores of 30-16, 28-30, 30-12, 30-17. The Ducks posted 9.5 total blocks and launched a season-high 16 aces. With the win, Stevens improves to 17-5 on the season.

Senior outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio landed 11 kills three service aces and a pair of blocks, while senior middle blocker Andrew Cranford recorded eight kills and two total blocks. He led the team with a .583 hitting percentage off of 12 attempts with just an error. Sophomore setter Brandt Grobeis dished out 34 assists and launched four aces in the win. Fessler led defensively with six digs as senior outside hitter John Dennan tallied five on the night. Senior libero Michael Bertucci chipped in with four service aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Maxwell Howard (Lafayette, Calif.) led the Raptors with eight kills and a block in the loss. Freshman outside hitter Nick Chan (Victor, N.Y.) registered six kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks. Sophomore setter Brice Ormesher (Chicago, Ill.) connected on 20 assists as Bard totaled seven blocks and produced a -.130 hitting percentage.

The Ducks return to the court on Friday when they play host to Mount Olive College at 6 p.m. in Hoboken, N.J.
