MONTCLAIR, N.J. (March 20, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team fell to 4-3 on the young season following an 8-5 loss to Montclair State University at Sprague Field in Montclair, N.J. The Ducks outshot their Redhawk counterparts, 32-22, on the day, but were unable to overcome an early 2-0 deficit.

Freshman Nicolas Philippi netted two goals, while junior Chris Laurita had a goal and two assists. Fellow junior Blair Koontz finished with a goal and an assist, while sophomore Kevin Rose and senior Bobby Steinhauser added a goal and assist, respectively.

Montclair senior attacker Patrick Nann (Livingston, N.J.) tallied a game-high three goals in the win, while senior Taylor Bonner (Old Bridge, N.J.) and junior Robert Sinicola (North Caldwell, N.J.) each had two goals, with Sinicola also adding four helpers. Sophomores Tyler Meth (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Thomas Ring (Nutley, N.J.) added a goal and an assist, respectively.

The Redhawks opened up scoring just three minutes in, on a Nann goal assisted by Sinicola. The duo would again combine efforts on Montclair's second tally, with Sinicola finding Nann at the 13:23 mark of the second period.

Koontz responded just over a minute later with the Ducks' first goal, making it 2-1, but Sinicola again found the open man, setting up Bonner for the Red Hawks' third goal with just over five minutes remaining in the period. Bonner then opened up the third quarter with his second goal on yet another Sinicola assist before Nann found the back of the net to make it 5-1 with 7:59 to go in the third.

Steinhauser found Laurita for Stevens' second goal, trimming the margin to three, but a Sinicola goal with 1:12 left in the third period upped the lead to four. Rose ripped a shot past the Montclair keeper with just 16 ticks to go in the third, slicing the lead back down to three, but two more Red Hawks' goals in the final period sealed the victory.

The Ducks return to action on Saturday, March 27 against Empire 8 rival Utica College.
