Zeevy, Rosensteel Lead Men's Tennis Past Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (April 11, 2010) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team rebounded from yesterday's 5-4 loss to defending Empire 8 champion Ithaca College with an 8-1 triumph over fellow league rival Elmira College. With the win, the Ducks improved to 11-2 overall with a 3-1 league ledger, while the Soaring Eagles fell to 2-4 with a 0-2 conference mark.

Stevens senior Piotr Rusinkiewicz and junior Gregory Klose opened things up with an 8-3, third-flight doubles win over Eric Klinedinst (York, Pa.) and Michael Lesslie (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) before junior Jason Ringstad and freshman Shota Tasaki put the Ducks ahead 2-0 with an 8-1, second-flight doubles victory. Junior Arik Zeevy and freshman Chris Rosensteel completed Stevens' doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory in the top slot.

Rosensteel then kicked off singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 No. 2 singles triumph over Steffan Waters (Elmira, N.Y.) before Zeevy downed Ryan Patterson (Brattleboro, Vt.), 6-1, 6-1, in No. 3 singles. Ringstad later defeated Klinedinst, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 4 singles before Gabriel Cortes (Miami, Fla.) scored Elmira's lone win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 1-6, 10-8, No. 1 singles victory. Rusinkiewicz and freshman Derek Smith wrapped up singles action with victories in No. 5 and No.6 singles, respectively.

The Ducks return to action on Wednesday, April 14 against New York University.
