Tasaki Powers Stevens Men's Tennis Past New York University

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 14, 2010) – Led by freshman Shota Tasaki the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team captured its 12th win of the season with an 8-1 triumph over New York University at the Stevens Tennis Courts in Hoboken, N.J. The Ducks improved to 12-2 overall on the year with a 3-1 league ledger, while the Violets fell to 3-7 on the season.

Freshman Chris Rosensteel and senior Piotr Rusinkiewicz started things off with an 8-1 second-flight doubles victory over junior Jason Sacher (Glen Head, N.Y.) and senior P.J. Marranca (West Pittston, Pa.), before juniors Gregory Klose and Jason Ringstad earned an 8-6 third-flight doubles triumph. Down 4-7 in top-flight singles, Tasaki and junior Arik Zeevy, rallied for a 9-7 win, completing Stevens' doubles sweep.

Rosensteel opened up singles action with a 6-2, 6-2, No. 2 singles victory over junior Alex Zara (Las Vegas, Nev.), while Zeevy put the Ducks up 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 No. 3 singles win. Tasaki then notched a 6-2, 6-4, No. 1 singles triumph over Sacher, before Rusinkiewicz scored a 6-2, 6-7, 10-4, No. 5 singles triumph.

Violets senior Eugene Tsarevskiy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched NYU's lone win of the day with a 1-6, 7-5, 10-7, No. 4 singles, with Klose wrapping up play with a 7-6, 7-5, victory over junior Matt Gross (Boca Raton, Fla.) in No. 6 singles.

Stevens returns to action on Saturday, April 17 against Hartwick College.
