Men's Tennis Cruises To Ninth-Straight Win, Sweeping St. John Fisher

HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 2, 2010) – Junior Arik Zeevy and freshman Shota Tasaki dropped just three games combined in singles and doubles play as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College. The Ducks, winners of nine-straight, are 9-1 on the season with a 1-0 league ledger, while the Cardinals fall to 0-8 on the year and 0-1 in league play.

Stevens sophomore Gregory Klose and senior Piotr Rusinkiewicz got things started with an 8-2 third-flight doubles win over freshmen Gregory Duffy (Macedon, N.Y.) and Dan Parshall (East Rochester, N.Y.). Ducks junior Jason Ringstad and Tasaki put Stevens up 2-0 with an 8-1 second-flight doubles triumph before Zeevy and freshman Chris Rosensteel wrapped up doubles action with an 8-0 top-flight doubles victory.

Zeevy then made it 4-0, kicking off singles play with a 6-0, 6-0, win in the No. 2 slot, before Rosensteel scored a 6-0, 6-2, in No. 3 singles. Rusinkiewicz continued the Stevens streak with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Parshall in No. 6 singles before Ringstad notched a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of sophomore John Whelehan (Batavia, N.Y.) in No. 4 singles. Tasaki later ousted senior Matt Aquino (Fairport, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-1, in No. 1 singles before junior Jay Lee completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-3, win in No. 5 singles.

Stevens returns to action on Saturday, April 3 against Alfred University.
