Men's Volleyball Closes Out Season With NECVA Tournament Loss To Ramapo

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (April 9, 2010) - The tenth-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team wrapped up its 2010 season with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-27, 30-26) to the sixth-seeded Ramapo College Roadrunners at the 2010 North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Tournament at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Barnstable, Mass. The Ducks finish the season with a 20-12 overall mark, while the Roadrunners, now 20-9 on the year, move on to face No. 15 Nazareth College, which upset second-seeded Baruch College.

Junior opposite hitter SteFan PremDas led the way for the Ducks with 15 kills, while fellow junior Jonathan Landis had 13 kills and 10 digs. Junior middle Timothy Karl had eight kills, while freshman Jake Modestow had seven kills.

Junior libero Aaron Ostrovsky had a team-high 13 digs, while junior co-captain Brandt Grobeis dished out a match-best 45 assists.

Sophomore outside hitter Josh Castillo (Garfield, N.J.) had a team-high 12 kills to pace Ramapo, while sophomore Paul Konopacki (Monroe Twp., N.J.) and freshmen Kevin Froehlich (Ringwood, N.J.) and Steve Vahalla (Bloomfield, N.J.) each had eight kills.

Senior Kurt Backlund (Old Bridge, N.J.) finished with a match-high 16 digs, while senior setter Matt Scott (Edison, N.J.) collected 40 assists.
