HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 19, 2010) – Senior Allyson Kingman notched both a No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles victory as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team captured its fifth-consecutive match following an 8-1 triumph over Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher College at the Stevens Tennis Courts in Hoboken, N.J. With the win, the Ducks move to 6-1 on the season with a 3-1 league ledger, while the Cardinals fall to 2-3 on the year with a 2-2 mark against conference opponents.

Stevens senior Kendra Appleheimer and freshman Lisa Tessitore got the Ducks off on the right foot with an 8-3 victory over junior Marissa Rotondo (Syracuse, N.Y.) and sophomore Haley Strowe (Rochester, N.Y.) in No. 2 doubles. Kingman and junior Nicole Portner then scored an 8-4 win over Elena Vahl (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Kathryn Pasier (Orchard Park, N.Y.) to stake Stevens to a 2-0 advantage, but Cardinals' junior Jordan Brungard (Hornell, N.Y.) and senior Katelyn Smith (Lockport, N.Y.) wrapped up doubles action with an 8-5 win in the third slot, trimming the Ducks' margin.

Tessitore kicked-off singles play besting senior Katie Catalano (Specerport, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-1, in second singles, before Stevens' Mine Bese downed Rotondo, 6-0, 6-0, in fifth singles. Appleheimer then defeated Smith, 6-1, 6-0, in fourth singles to clinch the Stevens match victory, before Portner outlasted Pasier 6-4, 6-4, in third singles. The Ducks' Alexandra Handel scored a hard-fought 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory in sixth singles over Strowe, before Kingman wrapped up play with a 7-5, 7-5, win in the top slot.
