Women's Tennis To Begin NCAA Championships Against Rhode Island College

Ducks Will Face Anchormen in Middlebury-Hosted Pod

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team is headed to Vermont this weekend to begin the 2026 NCAA DIII Women's Tennis Championships, as announced on Monday afternoon.

The Ducks will play in the Middlebury College Regional, joined in the pod by Babson (the No. 8 team in the country), the host Panthers (the No. 12 team in the country), Tufts, Hartwick, and the Ducks' first opponent this Friday, Rhode Island College. The Stevens-RIC winner will face Babson; the Tufts-Hartwick winner will face Middlebury. The Stevens/RIC/Babson winner will face the Middlebury/Tufts/Hartwick winner in the Regional Final.

Stevens earned the automatic berth to the tournament after winning a fifth straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship last Saturday, blanking Lebanon Valley 4-0 in the final after blanking DeSales 4-0 in the semifinal last Wednesday. Stephanie Untermeyer was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Earlier on Monday, the Ducks took home a myriad of MAC Freedom All-Conference honors, including Player of the Year for Alix Dry (her second in a row), Rookie of the Year for Kaylee Hobbick, and Coach of the Year for Arik Zeevy (his fourth in a row).. Additionally, Dry, Hobbick, Lorena Piegas, and Wei-Wei Lai were all named First Team All-Conference, and Untermeyer, Gigi Arenas, and Julia Chiovitti were named Second Team All-Conference.

Rhode Island College has known of their Championships fate since before the new year, having won the Little East Conference Championship back on October 25, as the LEC contests their women's tennis season/conference championships in the Fall. The Anchormen knocked off UMass Dartmouth 4-0 in the conference Semifinals and UMass Boston 4-2 in the LEC Final.

The championships will conclude with semifinal and final rounds at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN, running May 18-21.
