HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 30, 2011) – Junior captain Mary Nikish (Pittsford, N.Y.) tallied twice and senior captain Jillian Price (West Islip, N.Y.) handed out assists 14 and 15 of 2011 to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Washington & Jefferson College on a freshly plowed De Baun Athletic Complex field on Sunday. The win locks up the No. 2 seed in the Empire 8 Championship for the Ducks and improves their record to 11-6 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8.
Stevens was in control from the start, scoring 1:18 in and never looking back. The Ducks ended the contest with a 16-10 edge in shots and a huge 13-3 margin in penalty corners. The game's final tally came from Swanson after a scrum in front. Price was able to control and touch to Swanson who put it home for her sixth goal of the season in the 44th minute.
