Seifert Shines In Men's Volleyball Sweep Of UVC Rival Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (February 16, 2011) – Freshman Ryan Seifert hit an impressive .714 with an team-high 10 kills, as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-12) victory over United Volleyball Conference rival Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. With the win, the Ducks moved to 9-3 overall on the season with a 2-1 league ledger, while Raptors fell to 6-7 on the year with a 1-1 mark against conference opponents.

Stevens opened up the match with a 25-17 victory before taking a 2-0 match advantage with an identical 25-17 triumph in the second. Looking to put it away, the Ducks completed the sweep with a 25-12 win in the third and final set. As a team, the Ducks hit .473, while holding Bard to a paltry .148 attack percentage.

Senior outside hitter SteFan PremDas, the conference's reining Player of the Week, added six kills, three blocks, four digs, and an ace in the win, while senior co-captain Brandt Grobeis added 34 assists and a team-high five digs while directing the Ducks' offense.

Raptors' junior outside hitter Nick Chan (Victor, N.Y.) paced Bard with eight kills and two blocks, while senior Elijah Strauss (Queens, N.Y.), finished with six kills. Freshman setter Henry Kasiske (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 26 helpers in the loss, while junior libero Andrew Cortrite (Los Angeles, Calif.) collected nine digs.

Stevens returns to action on Thursday, February 17 against Vassar College.
