HOBOKEN, N.J. (April 30, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team stayed unblemished in league play with a 9-0 win over Elmira College at the Stevens Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. Senior Carlo Pardo clinched the victory at No. 6 singles as the Ducks set up a match with Ithaca College that will decide the Empire 8 regular-season title on Sunday in Hoboken. Stevens is now 10-5 overall and 5-0 in the Empire 8.

The Ducks cruised to a 3-0 lead in doubles. The first win came from the No. 2 doubles team of senior Jason Ringstad and senior Arik Zeevy. The veteran duo downed senior Ryan Patterson (Brattleboro, Vt.) and sophomore Steffan Waters (Elmira, N.Y.), 8-1, with the No. 3 doubles team of Pardo and junior Gregory Klose earning an 8-1 win over sophomore Gorav Simlote (Syracuse, N.Y.) and freshman Sam Pine (Elmira, N.Y.). Sophomores Chris Rosensteel and Shota Tasaki earned the final point out of the first slot, taking an 8-3 decision over senior Gabriel Cortes (Miami, Fla.) and junior Eric Klinedinst (York, Pa.).

Ringstad earned the first singles win, taking the fourth slot over Simlote, 6-0, 6-1. Pardo earned Stevens' fifth and clinching point of the match at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2, over Pine. Tasaki downed Patterson, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, while freshman Lopburi Sasinin won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Zeevy defeated Klinedinst, 6-3, 6-2, at second singles, and Rosensteel took home a hard-fought victory over Cortes, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, at No. 1 singles.

Ithaca is 7-0 in the Empire 8 and the winner will take home the regular-season conference title. Last year, Stevens defeated Ithaca for the Empire 8 title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship after falling to the Bombers in the regular season. Tomorrow's dual-match and regular-season finale is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
