Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (September 14, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team improved its record to 3-2-1 in the 2011 season with an overtime victory over the hosts from Vassar College on Wednesday afternoon, 2-1. The Ducks netted a golden-goal nine minutes into the first 10-minute overtime period to come out on top.

Despite being outshot by the Brewers, 21-16, the Ducks took three crucial shots in the extra time, to Vassar's zero, one of those the gamewinning shot taken by sophomore Bridgette Barden in the 99th minute off a cross from freshman Ann Heine.

Vassar also held a slim advantage in corners, 6-4.

Barden's goal marks the eighth Ducks' player to net a tally in nine team goals this season.

Stevens, for the second time this season, jumped out to a 1-0 lead within the first minute of play. Just 45 seconds into the match, senior Kathleen Schuckers took a corner attempt into the box. The first Duck shot was blocked and bounded out to junior Brittany Odgers. Odgers was given an open net as the Brewers' goaltender went out of position, contesting the first attempted shot, and Odgers netted her team-leading second marker of the season.

As the first half started to wind down, Vassar knotted the game up in the 37th minute. Freshman Kelsey Domn (Round Rock, Texas) brought in a cross from senior Alex Grant (Coral Springs, Fla.) after a header attempt was missed and tied the score at 1-1.

Stevens' senior goaltender Kaitlin McClymont played another solid game in net for the Ducks in all 98:58 minutes of action. McClymont stopped six shots to run her season total in saves to 26. She is now 3-1 this year.

The Ducks are back on the field on Friday, September 16 at 4 p.m. when they travel to FDU-Florham for another non-conference match. After another away game on the 20th against Farmingdale State College, Stevens returns home for its first conference showdown with Nazareth on the 24th.
