INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (October 18, 2012) – In the first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Regional Rankings released on October 17, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team landed in the No. 2 spot in the East. Stevens sits behind Empire 8 Conference rival Ithaca College for the top slot in the region. Ithaca is ranked fourth in the country in the latest NSCAA Top 25 Poll.
Before yesterday's 3-0 loss to No. 18 The College of New Jersey, ranked fourth in the South Atlantic region, the Ducks were 9-4 overall on the season (9-3 according to NCAA matches), and were placed ahead of three other nationally ranked teams in their respective region.
SUNY Brockport, ranked 25th in the country, earned the fourth spot in the East, while No. 13 Union College and No. 16 William Smith College, landed at fifth and eighth, respectively.
The remainder of the region rounds out as follows: SUNY Oneonta at No. 3, SUNY New Paltz at No. 7 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is seventh.
Stevens takes on Empire 8 foe St. John Fisher College on Saturday for Senior Day at 12 p.m. and then hosts Western Connecticut State University on October 24 for the team's regular season home finale at 7 p.m.
