ORLANDO, Fla. (March 14, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team earned five singles victories to defeat the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team, 6-3. RPI falls to 6-5, while the Ducks, who are ranked 12th in the Northeast Region, improve to 2-3.

Andrew Riggs (Auburn, Calif.) and Nicholas Rosasco (Alpine, N.J.) were victorious at second doubles 8-5, but Stevens went into the singles half of the match trailing 2-1.

Things turned around quickly at singles, as the Ducks won flights two through six to win the match 6-3. Shota  Taksaki (Greenwich, Conn.), Riggs, Rosasco, Daniel Szwarc (Metuchen, N.J.) and Derek Smith (Boise, Idaho) each won  singlesmatches for Stevens. Riggs won his at third singles by a 6-1, 6-0 margin.

Even the singles match Stevens dropped was closely contended, where Chris Rosensteel (East Windsor, N.J.) took the tiebreaking set almost to the limit at 10-7.

The Ducks will play again when they host Hunter on March 28 at 3:30 p.m. in Hoboken. That match will begin a two-week four-match homestand for Stevens.
