ITHACA, N.Y. (January 25, 2013) – The Ithaca College women's basketball team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology by a 92-55 final Friday night at Ben Light Gymnasium in Ithaca, N.Y. With the win, the Bombers improved to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in the Empire 8, while the loss dropped the Ducks to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

The Bombers came out of the gate quickly, taking an 13-4 lead seven minutes in on the back of junior forward Jenn Escobido (Lisbon, Conn.) who scored nine early points for Ithaca. Triples from freshman Dylan Krause (Atlanta, Ga.) and junior guard Jen Thompson (Linwood, N.J.) sandwiched around a Ithaca basket brought the Ducks within five (15-10) and slowed the hosts momentum.

The lead moved to 16 (40-24) after Ally Mnich (Holmdel, N.J.) converted from three – her third of the opening period – and the Bombers ended up taking a 44-27 margin into the intermission. Ithaca came out and continued its hot shooting, connecting on four of its first six shots from the field to push the lead to 20 (57-37) just 5:35 into the second and extended the margin to 29 with 10 minutes left.

Stevens battled throughout but struggled to slice into the Ithaca lead with the Bombers converting at such a high rate on the offensive end.

Krause finished with 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Ducks, with freshman Miranda Ripken (Fallston, Md.) ending with nine points, four rebounds and four assists. Junior guard Molly Spadaro (Sewell, N.J.) had nine points, three rebounds and three helpers, while Thompson had eight points and trio of assists.
