ELMIRA, N.Y. (April 17, 2013) – The nationally ranked No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team rolled to a 23-2 victory over Empire 8 Conference rival Elmira College on Wednesday afternoon at Elmira's Campus Field. With the win, Stevens improves to 10-2 overall this season and 4-0 in the Empire 8.

In the most lopsided triumph since 2011 for the Ducks, 16 different players recorded at least one point. In 2011, Stevens topped Utica College, 25-4, and Richard Stockton College, 26-3, in 2011, and allowed the least amount of goals in a contest since 2007. Six years ago, Stevens shutout Mount Saint Vincent College, 23-0, and dropped Centenary College, 22-1.

The Ducks jumped out to a 6-0 in the first quarter and never looked back, as they tallied six scores in the first, third and fourth quarters. Elmira netted its lone two goals of the game to end the first and third quarters, respectively.

Senior midfielders Harrison Dorne (Morristown, N.J.), Rich Dupas (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Nicolas Philippi (Mullica Hill, N.J.) all registered hat tricks for Stevens. Dupras and Philippi also handed out two assists.

Junior Charlie Cronin (Northampton, Mass.) and freshman Matt Ferentini (South Salem, N.Y.) both added two goals, while sophomore Michael Maroon (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the Ducks with six points on five assists and one marker. Cronin dished out an assist as well.

Nine other Ducks got in on the action with goals: junior Eric Proos (Northborough, Mass.), sophomore AJ Bruce (Wilmington, Mass.) and Liam McAdams (Mendham, Mass.) and freshmen Alex Haubrich (Voorhees, N.J.), Brett Incollingo (Yardley, Pa.), Connor O'Shea (Ridgewood, N.J.), Zachary Raposo (Tewksbury, N.J.), Griffin Rock (Bay Shore, N.J.) and Colin Sawula (Northampton, Mass.) all found the back of the net. Zachary Raposo handed out two assists and O'Shea tallied one as well.

Incollingo and Sawula notched their first collegiate goals, while Bruce, McAdams and Pross netted their first scores of the season. Incollingo also won 10-of-12 faceoffs and picked up six groundballs.

Freshman Anthony Raposo (Tewksbury, N.J.) was the 16th Duck with a point as he dished out an assist. Raposo also scooped up five groundballs in the win.

Classmate Jeff Wyckoff (Summit, N.J.) went 8-for-14 from the “X” with four groundballs, while junior Tim Culloty (Mahwah, N.J.) picked up five groundballs.

Sophomore Matthew Deiner (Millstone Twp., N.J.) played 30 minutes in goal for the win and stopped five shots. Freshman Austin Boyd (Bellevue, Wash.) made two saves in just over 17 minutes in cage, while senior Ben Shaffer (Armonk, N.Y.) also stopped two shots in 7:17. Freshman Eric Heinowitz (Oakland, N.J.) played the final 5:22 in goal for the Ducks.

Stevens plays again this Saturday at Nazareth College for first-place bragging rights of the Empire 8 at 1 p.m. in Rochester, N.Y. Nazareth is 4-0 in the conference and 9-4 overall.
