Box Score BRONX, N.Y. (April 23, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team scored four runs in the top of the 11th inning to come away with a 6-3 victory over Baruch College on Tuesday afternoon in the Bronx. With the win, Stevens is now 18-16 with six games remaining on its regular season schedule.
The Ducks bats were cold for a majority of the game but came alive in three of their last four trips to the plate. Stevens scored all six of its runs after the eighth inning and trailed, 2-0, up to that point after Baruch plated two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Junior
Curt Lowenstein (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) led Stevens offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored, a sacrifice bunt and two stolen bases. Sophomore
Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove in two runs, including one in the 11th on a double for his lone hit of the contest.
Senior
Tyler Courter (Glenwood, N.J.) picked up two hits in four at bats, while junior
Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) went 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, two walks and a stolen base. Allen also picked up the win on the mound for the Ducks in three innings of relief. He gave up four hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.
Freshman
Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) also scored, stole a base and drove in a run with a hit in six at bats.
Sophomore
Peirce Marston (Silver Spring, Md.) put together a solid performance on the hill for Stevens but did not decide in the decision of the game. Marston tossed eight innings and scattered nine hits with five strike outs and no walks. He also two runs in the ballgame but only one was earned.
Stevens will be back in action on Friday for a single game against John Jay at 7:30 p.m. in Hoboken. The game will go down as a road contest. On Saturday and Sunday, the Ducks will host Utica College for two doubleheaders and Sunday marks Senior Day which will take place between Games One and Two.
