MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 11, 2014) - The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball program improved to 5-1 on the season with a 6-5 victory over Mount Aloysius College in 12 innings on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Stevens walked-off with the win by way of a wild pitch that plated junior
Ryan Mannello (Staten Island, N.Y.). Mannello led off the inning with a double and reached third by way of a sacrifice bunt. The wild pitch came on an intentional walk attempt.
The Ducks rallied in the bottom of the 11th with a run to continue the extra-inning affair and senior
Mark Poinsett (Ocean Gate, N.J.) came away with the win on the mound in an inning of relief with two punchouts.
Sophomore
Jayson Yano (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) went 3-for-5 in the game with two doubles, a run scored and RBI. Yano also started for the Ducks on the mound and tossed 6 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and two earned runs. He scattered 10 hits and gave up one walk.
Senior
Curt Lowenstein (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) drove in two runs in a 2-for-6 day at the plate, while classmate
Dan Allen (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) collected two hits in six trips to the plate with an RBI.
Next up for Stevens is Baruch College on March 15 at Dobbelarr Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. in the CUNYAC contest.
