PINE VALLEY, N.Y.  (March 29, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team swept the doubles matches for the third time this season, as they cruised to a 6-0 match-shortened win.

The Ducks are now 5-7 with their second straight win, and 2-0 in conference. Elmira dropped to 3-3.

Freshmen Charles Drake and Michael Feldman started the Ducks winning ways with an 8-2 win over sophomores Austin Mansell and Satchal Waters. Freshman Brett Derrington and sophomore Jacob Thigpen followed suit with an 8-6 win at No. 3  in their first match as doubles partners. The Ducks completed the sweep with a win at No. 1 for sophomore Matthew Heinrich and freshman Antonio Perich over senior Sam Pine and junior Keith Bujak.

The winning didn't stop for Stevens once the singles matches started. Heinrich extended the win streak to four with a 6-2, 6-0 win over sophomore Pavle Vashakidze at No. 1, followed by a win at No. 3 for Perich over Pine to clinch the match. The teams concluded the match at No. 2 with Feldman's 6-1, 6-0 win over Bujak.

The match was suspended after the third singles match due to poor court conditions.

"It's nice to open conference play with two road wins, and it was great to be able to get everyone in the lineup today," head coach Steve Gachko said. "Building upon these wins, we now look forward to getting back to Hoboken and preparing for a big home match versus NYU on Wednesday."

The two match win streak is the longest for the Ducks this season as they continued their dominance over the Empire 8.

The Ducks will be back in action on April 2 as they host No. 23 New York University in Hoboken. The match will represent the first time this season Stevens has been able to host a match at its home court.
