LANGHORNE, Pa. (March 29, 2014) – The nationally ranked No. 8 Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team swept a pair of matches at Cairn University on Saturday to run its winning streak to five straight matches. Stevens is now 10 matches over .500 with a 17-7 overall record.
The Ducks took down the hosts from Cairn, 25-20, 25-12, 25-20, and handled Eastern Mennonite University, 25-17, 25-22, 25-16.

In the sweep of Cairn, freshman
Gabe Shankweiler (Allentown, Pa.) paced all players with 11 kills to go along with five digs, two assists and one service ace. Sophomore
Chris Vaughan (Medford, N.J.) was close behind with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage with nine digs and two aces.
Junior
Daniel Smith (Tucson, Ariz.) hit at a .714 clip on five kills in seven attempts with a pair of blocks. Freshman
Jordan Stuart (Huntington Beach, Calif.) put down eight kills on 12 swings for a .583 percentage.
Junior
Kevin Aeckerle (Henrietta, N.Y.) dished out 37 assists and added six digs, while classmate
Ryan Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) chipped in six kills.
Sophomore
Alexander Carpenter (Delaware, Ohio) recorded three kills in one set played and junior
Dylan Schlosser (Emmaus, Pa.) finished with seven digs and two assists.
The Ducks hit .274 overall in the match (44K, 18E, 95A), while Cairn swung at just a .096 rate (23K, 15E, 83A).
Stevens 3, Eastern Mennonite 0
This was the second meeting between the Ducks and Royals this season. Stevens came away with a 3-1 victory on February 1 in the team's home opener.
Shankweiler once again led the match with 16 kills and a .464 hitting percentage, with a pair of aces. Smith reached double-digit kills in the match with 11 and hit .500 overall to go along with four total blocks.
Vaughan chipped in seven kills and eight digs, while Aeckerle handed out another match-best 33 assists.
Carpenter had four blocks (two solo), a pair of kills and two digs. Brandow recorded six digs, two blocks and two kills.
Schlosser guided the Stevens backline once again with nine digs.
Stevens once again significantly outhit its opponent by a .361 to .118 difference. The Ducks also notched 8.5 blocks in the match to just two for the Royals.
Up next for the Ducks will be the Springfield College Tournament on April 4 and 5. Stevens opens up with top-ranked Springfield on the 4th and will also square off with No. 10 Medaille College on the 5th at 11 a.m. Marymount University and Endicott College are also on the slate next weekend.
