Men’s Basketball Seniors Ranked Among Nation’s Elite

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (January 29, 2015) – Senior forwards Kenny Gan and Patrick Sabatino of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team are ranked among the nation's elite according to the latest statistical release from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
 
Gan is currently fifth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game, snaring 4.29 per outing which also is tops in the Empire 8. Gan is 37th nationally in total rebounds (third in the conference) with 157 and his 9.2 rebounds per game is 46th in the country.
 
Sabatino is 44th in field-goal percentage – converting a lofty 57.9 percent of his bids from the field into baskets, while cracking the top-100 in total blocks (No. 90) with 25.
 
Stevens is coming off a 1-1 conference road weekend, falling last Friday at Hartwick College and bouncing back Saturday with a convincing 80-67 win at Utica College. The Ducks are currently 5-4 in the Empire 8 and 8-9 overall, checking in third in the conference standings behind St. John Fisher College (8-0) and Ithaca College (5-3). Alfred University and Hartwick are tied in fourth place behind Stevens with identical 4-4 Empire 8 ledgers.
 
Up next for Stevens will be a pair of weekend road matchups at Houghton College (Friday) and Alfred University (Saturday). The Ducks rolled to a 76-60 win in Hoboken over the Highlanders back on January 3, but fell to the Saxons on January 2 by a score of 65-58 in the Canavan Arena.
