RESULTS
ONEONTA, N.Y. (October 3, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team handed Hartwick College its first Empire 8 Conference loss of the season Saturday in the form of a 9-0 victory.
The win moved Stevens to 6-2, while Hartwick fell to 8-2. The 9-0 win was the third of the season for the Ducks.
Sophomore
Katrina Guido and freshman
Sydney Zoretic started the day's winning with an 8-3 win at second doubles, followed by an 8-6 win at No. 3 for freshmen
Victoria Piskarev and
Jill Hadwen. The win kept Guido and Zoretic undefeated at 7-0.
Senior
Julia Guignard and junior
Alexis Connor completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 1, giving the duo their fourth win of the season and third in-a-row.
Zoretic continued the run once singles started with a win at No. 5, before Piskarev clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2. Guignard picked-up the straight-set win at No. 4, while Guido overcame a first set loss to take the win at No. 3.
With the match well in hand, Hadwen and Connor completed the afternoon with wins at No. 6 and No. 1 respectively.
The Ducks will continue their E8 road-trip tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match at Utica College.
