Swarthmore, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team competed at the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday, facing Washington College and host Swarthmore College.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles action, Julia Chiovitti and Christina Kyrou partnered for a first-round victory over Washington College. Playing a pro set, the duo earned a 6-4 triumph. The Ducks added two victories in the second round, as Kimberly Chen and Abigail Shi registered a 6-2 win, while Eva Karmazin and Kaylin Chan posted an identical 6-2 victory.
 
Moving to singles, Jasmine Wen rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory, while Chan, Karmazin and Shi each recorded straight-set wins in the opening round. Chan earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Karmazin and Shi each posted matching 6-4, 6-3 scorelines.
 
Stevens added three more victories in the final round of singles play. Chen earned a 4-2, 4-2 win, Karmazin posted a 4-3 (4-1), 4-2 triumph and Shi rounded out the day with a dominant 4-1, 4-0 victory.

The Ducks will return to action Friday for the four-day ITA Atlantic South Region Championship, hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
