Women’s Soccer Looks To Extend Winning Streak

HOBOKEN, N.J. (OCTOBER 9, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team looks to continue its five match unbeaten streak this weekend, with a pair of Empire 8 Conference matchesagainst St. John Fisher College and Nazareth College.
 
Stevens currently boasts a 7-2-1 overall record, and are tied for second in the E8 with a 2-0-1 record.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Junior Raba Nassif scored the fifth fastest hat trick in Division III history last Saturday to lead the Ducks past Elmira College 9-0. Nassif tallied three goals in 1:51 while freshman Zisi Komar notched a goal and an assist.
 
SCOUTING FISHER
The Cardinals are 4-6-1 in 2015, and 1-2 in the E8. Carly Finn leads Fisher with four assists and 10, with Nicolette Nigro leading the club with four goals. Last fall the Ducks defeated the Cardinals 2-1 with Nassif tallying both markers.
 
GROUNDING THE FLYERS
The Golden Flyers are unbeaten in their last five matches against the Ducks, including a pair of victories during 2014. The Duck offense will be tasked with trying to beat freshman keeper Allison Dobles, who is second in the conference with 54 saves and has only allowed five goals all season.
 
AWARD SEASON
Nassif was named E8 and ECAC offensive player of the week by contributing the three goals, while also tallying a pair of assists. The junior currently leads the conference with 47 shots and is tied for first with six goals.
 
TOP OF THE HEAP
The Ducks lead the conference in every offensive category through 10 games, including hots, goals, assists and points. The defensive unit has held opponents to just 54 shots on goal which is second best in the E8.
 
YO, GABBY GABBY
Saturday's contest marked the second time this season that sophomore Gabby Pagkalinawan and junior Gabby Mathelier have each recorded goals in the same match. Pagkalinawan has tallied a goal in three of the last four matches while Mathelier is tied for fourth on the club with seven points.
 
SOMETHING'S BREWIN'
Freshman Misha Brewster has collected a goal in each of the past two contests, including a goal with three seconds remaining against Drew University on September 29.

Live stats and video will be available on stevensducks.com for both games. The Ducks battle Fisher Saturday at noon and Naz at 1 p.m. Sunday.
