HOBOKEN, N.J. (November 13, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team will continue its 2015-16 schedule Saturday with three matchups at the John Reese Duals.
MEET INFOThe Ducks will battle No. 7 Wilkes University, No. 5 Ithaca College, and York College, all on the campus of Wilkes in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The matches will mark the first time the Ducks have faced a nationally-ranked opponent in team head-to-head competition this season.
LAST TIME OUTThe Ducks fell to The College of New Jersey 28-10 Wednesday in their first dual-meet of the season. Junior
Rob Murray won by major decision at 125 lbs., while sophomore
A.J. Kowal won by disqualification at 197.
SCOUTING REPORTWilkes opened its season last weekend with a second place finish in the Monarch Invitational, taking seven top-six finishes and three titles. Ithaca placed first at its invitational last weekend, while York took a pair of losses to Navy before a sixth place finish at the Monarch Invitational.
FAMILIAR FOESaturday will mark the second time this season the Ducks have faced wrestlers from Ithaca after Stevens took second at the Ithaca Invitational last weekend. Junior Colin Navicakas knocked-off Itahca's Nick Velez to take the title at 165 lbs., while
A.J. Kowal beat Ithaca's Zach Conner for the championship at 197 lbs.
MURRAY'S MATAfter another major decision win on Wednesday, Murray has now won by major or technical fall in three of his five bouts this season.
