Men’s Basketball Earns First Win Over Bryn Athyn

Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. (NOVEMBER 14, 2015) – Junior Patrick Barron of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team set a John Long Center single-game record by connecting on nine three pointers to lead the Ducks to a 92-73 win over Bryn Athyn College Saturday.

The win evened the Ducks mark at 1-1, while Bryn Athyn fell to 0-2.

Stevens raced out to a 16-8 lead over the first 5:45 of the game, but the Lions were able to storm back and grabbed their biggest of the afternoon at 27-23. An 8-0 run by the Ducks capped off by a jumper from freshman Ryan Coffey put Stevens back up on top. A trey by Barron capped the scoring in the opening half with the Ducks on top 38-36.

A layup by sophomore Chris Cosgrove started a 17-0 run that broke the game open for the Ducks. The Bears got within 13 with just under 10 minutes to go, but Barron nailed a three to start a 10-3 run to stop the comeback hopes.

Barron was chosen to the All-Tournament team, scoring 57 points over the two games. Senior Alex Lorenz was a rebound short of a double-double, putting up 18 points and nine boards, while senior Evan Klimchak had 17 points and dished out nine assists. The team shot 49.3% from the field, and out-rebounded the Bears 47-37.

Bryn Athyn had four players in double figures, led by Troy Steed, who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Ducks are back in action on Wednesday for their home opener at 7 p.m. against Kean University.
