HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 26, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team will be hosting its third annual Birthplace of Baseball Classic on Saturday at Dobbelaar Field beginning at 4 p.m.
The festivities will kick off with an Empire 8 game played between Stevens and Utica College. Afterwards there will be a two-inning exhibition contest between Hoboken's Historic H9 Baseball Team.
Festivities will kick-off with a seven-inning game between the Pioneers of Utica College and the host Stevens Ducks. Food and drink is free for those in attendance and the ballpark fare includes hot dogs (courtesy of Mondo Dogs), cracker jacks, and beverages.At the conclusion of the 4 p.m. contest, Hoboken's Historic H9 Baseball Team will take the field for a two-inning exhibition game. Using "old school" baseball rules during the exhibition, a public address announcer from the Hoboken Historical Museum will provide voice-over narration of the game.
Last season the Ducks swept the Pioneers in a four game series in Utica, New York.
