Women’s Tennis Hosts Ithaca In Crucial E8 Match

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 18, 2015) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team will be looking for its fourth consecutive win Saturday when it hosts Ithaca College in a pivotal Empire 8 Conference match.

MATCH INFO
Action is set to start Saturday at 12 p.m. on the Stevens tennis courts in Hoboken.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks put together a highly successful road trip last weekend with 8-1 and 9-0 wins over Alfred University and St. John Fisher College respectively.

BATTLE FOR THE EMPIRE
Entering play on Friday, Ithaca sits atop the E8 standing at 3-0 while Stevens is right behind at 3-1.

RIVALRY RENEWED
The Ducks handed Ithaca their lone conference loss last season with a 5-3 win in early October. Both teams met again a few weeks later in the E8 final where the Bombers edged Stevens 5-3 in a close back-and-forth battle.

Ithaca has only two E8 losses since 2011, both of which came to Stevens.

FOLLOW THE LEADER
Sophomore Katrina Guido leads the Ducks with 4-0 records at both singles and doubles so far this season. Her stellar-start was rewarded Monday with her selection as the E8's player of the week.

VETERAN PRESENCE
Senior Julia Guignard and junior Jillian Morneau have combined to provide Stevens with seven wins at singles this fall. Guiganrd has provided the punch from the fourth and fifth positions, while Morneau is 3-1 at No. 6.

EARLY IMPACT
Freshmen Sydney Zoretic, Jill Hadwen, and Victoria Piskarev are a combined 10-2 at doubles this season.
