Women’s Basketball To Host Pivotal E8 Weekend

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 28, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team hosts a pair of key Empire 8 Conference games this weekend.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE
The Ducks (11-5, 7-0 E8) take on St. John Fisher College Friday at 6 p.m. before battling Elmira College Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games will take place in Canavan Arena.

FESTIVITIES
All fans are encouraged to wear red during the game on Saturday and will be part of the Alumni Associations #RedOut. Additionally, the Ducks will honor their seniors as part of a pregame Senior Day ceremony.

LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks battled back from a 10 point halftime deficit to top Nazareth College 66-61 Friday night. After shooting 22.5% in the first half, Stevens came out blistering in the second half, shooting 43.33% in the second 20 minutes.

BENCH WITH A BOOST
Sophomore Megan Brown and Sydney Darby came off the bench to score a combined 23 points, including 16 in the second half.

TOKE'S NO JOKE
Sophomore Anna Toke filled the stat sheet Friday, chipping in four points, three assists, four steals and a career-high 16 rebounds.

DAR-3
Darby has been en fuego from behind the arc in the past two games. After starting the season 0-for-10 from three, the Wall, N.J. native has connected on eight of her last 10 three point opportunities.

SCOUTING REPORT
Fisher comes into the game with a 14-2 mark, including a perfect 7-0 record in E8 play. Elmira is currently 6-12 overall, and are 3-6 in the conference.

RIPKEN WATCH
After scoring 12 points Friday night, senior Miranda Ripken is inching closer to the 1,000 point plateau. Heading into the weekend, Ripken needs 51 points reach 1,000.

LIMIT TURNOVERS
One of the biggest keys to the comeback win over Naz was limiting turnovers. In the opening, the Ducks turned the ball over six times, but limited themselves to only two in the final half.

THANK YOU SENIORS
Over the past four seasons, Ripken along with classmates Megan Petuskey and Dylan Krause have accounted for a 65-32 overall record, and a 38-13 mark in E8 action.
