Women’s Basketball To Battle No. 4 Amherst

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 10, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team takes on No. 4 Amherst College in the NCAA Sectional Round Friday night.

GAME INFO
Tip-off between the Ducks and the Lord Jeffs is scheduled for 7 p.m. at LeFrank Gymnasium. Prior to that, Bowdoin College will take on the University of Rochester at 5 p.m. The two winners will square off on Saturday at 6 p.m.

TOUGH ENVIRONMENT
Amherst has lost once on its home court since 2009, falling 52-51 to Tufts University earlier in the year. The loss snapped a 121 game home winning streak, the second longest in NCAA history across all three division, and is the longest by any women's program.

DUCK PATH
Playing in front of its home fans, the Ducks topped The College at Old Westbury 76-50 in the First Round, before knocking off SUNY-Geneseo 66-60 in the Second Round.

AMHERST ROAD
The Lord Jeffs knocked off Eastern Connecticut State University and Rowan University on the road. Amherst comes into the contest with a 28-1 overall record.

Junior Erica Guketlov had a Steph Curry-esque shooting performance to close out the third quarter against Old Westbury. Guketlov scored 14 points over the final 2:53, going 5-for-5, including 4-for-4 from three point range.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
In the four postseason games, senior Kaitlyn Astel has shown why she was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, averaging 19.3 points per game. Since the month changed from January to February, Astel boosted her points per game average by two points.

BIG GAME RAND
Fellow senior Miranda Ripken had one of her better games of the year against SUNY-Geneseo, scoring 20 points. The 20 points were one off her season-high, set against Vassar College earlier in the year.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Sophomore Anna Toke was a force on the offensive glass against Geneseo, grabbing five offensive rebounds. In total, Toke snared 14 total rebounds, and went 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
