HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 8, 2016) – After picking up a win on Wednesday night, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team heads north for the New Paltz Hawks Invitational.
MATCH DETAILS
On Friday, the Ducks will play Fredonia at 2 p.m. before battling regional power Clarkson University at 8 p.m. Saturday sees the unit have matches against Mount Saint Mary College at 1 p.m. and The Sage Colleges at 5 p.m.
FUTURE CONFERENCE MATE
Beginning in 2017-18, Sage will join the Empire 8 Conference, so the Ducks will seeing the Gators at least once per season.
CLARKSON HISTORY
The Ducks and Clarkson squared off in the NCAA Regional final two years ago in Hoboken, with Golden Knights winning in four sets. Stevens trails the all-time series 3-5, including a five
HEY. THAT ROAD LOOKS FAMILIAR
The Ducks will travel to New Paltz three times in the next five days. The distance according to googlemaps.com between Stevens and the Hawk Center is 79.6 miles, so the team will log nearly 500 miles back and forth.
WEDNESDAY RECAP
The Ducks swept past Hunter College in straight sets Wednesday night, taking down the Hawks 25-12, 25-8, 25-20.
SPOKANE SENSATION
Junior
Brianna Evans slugged .429 with 12 kills while also serving up two aces.
DEBUTING
Freshman
Kristen Edmiston made her collegiate debut in the win, registering her first two collegiate kills.
A TREE GROWS
Junior
Emily Singleton proved to be a force on the right side, notching a pair of digs and pounding home three kills on four attempts.
WHAT'S STEW-ING?
Freshman
Shelby Stewart had a hand in both of the Ducks blocks on the evening, recording two block assists. Stewart also had a kill and an assist in the victory.
SKI'IN ALONG
Sophomore
Emily Piekarski once again led Stevens with four aces, and the sophomore is currently third in the E8 with 10 aces on the year.
