HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 21, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing won 17-10 against NYU Tuesday night, while the men's fencing team lost 20-7 in a home dual match in Hoboken.
The win was the 23rd of the season for the women, while the men's record fell to 16-14.
Stevens' women's foil unit led the team with seven wins led by three from freshman
Allison Urban-Spillane, and two each from junior
Abby Kaye and freshman
Nicole Strezewski. Both sabre and epee each went 5-4 with two-win evenings for sophomore
Michelle Drobish, sophomore
Julia Yang, and sophomore
Amanda Choy.
On the men's side, epee and foil each won three bouts, with two wins a piece for sophomore
Ryan Edelstein and sophomore
Leonard Behrens. Sophomore Timothy Steinberg won once at sabre.
The Stevens men will compete in the Temple Invitational Sunday, while the women will be back in action Saturday for the NIWFA Championships.
