CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (February 5, 2017) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team topped MIT and Brown Sunday in a five-match slate at the Eric Sollee Invitational in Boston.
Stevens won 15-12 over MIT and 17-10 over Brown, while just narrowly being edged by Boston College and Brandeis 14-13 and 16-11 respectively. The Ducks also fell to Duke to round out their day.
Sophomore
Michelle Drobish and junior
Abby Kaye led all Stevens fencers with 10 wins each at sabre and foil, while sophomore
Julia Yang finished with a 9-6 record at sabre. Freshman
Phoebe Lai tallied seven wins at sabre to add to 26 wins for the day at the weapon for the Ducks, leading all other weapons on the day.

Amanda Choy each won seven times at epee, while freshman
Nicole Strezewski won five at foil. Stevens' seven foil fencers combined for 19 wins, in addition to 16 wins for the six at epee.
For the program, Stevens recently celebrated its 500th win overall in addition to competing in its 800th match. The historic program, which has only been led by head coach
Linda Vollkommer-Lynch, dates back to 1974.
Stevens will return to the strips Saturday for the FDU Invitational.
