NEWARK, N.J. (February 18, 2018) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team topped the College of William & Mary and the U.S. Naval Academy on its way to a split against MACFA's Group C on Sunday. The sabre squad defeated its counterparts in all four matches on the day for the Ducks.
The sabreists, led by
Juan Amezquita and
Timothy Steinberg, went a combined 24-6 on the afternoon. Amezquita and Steinberg both went 6-1.
Kirk Visser was 9-3 at epee and
Noah Scott went 7-2 at that weapon, while
Ean Weiss was 4-1 and
Michael Ruotolo won eight bouts at foil for Stevens.
"It was a real breakout day for our sabre fencers from top to bottom with a total squad record of 24-6," said head coach
Jim Carpenter. "Their hard work with coach
Aleks Ochocki in the weight room is really starting to pay off."

Stevens will head to the Temple invitational next Saturday for matchups against five Division I schools beginning at 9:30 a.m.
