Men's Fencing Earns Three Victories at MACFA Group B vs. Group C Tournament

Annapolis, Md. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team went 3-2 at the MACFA Group "B" vs. Group "C" event on Saturday.

The Ducks earned victories over William & Mary (20-7), Navy (16-11), and Maryland (15-14), while falling to Haverford (17-10) and Johns Hopkins (19-8).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens opened the day with a dominant win over William & Mary, posting an 8-1 record at foil and a 7-2 mark at sabre. Rishi Kandagadla and Aden Vishnevsky each went 3-0 at foil, while Spencer Depew also turned in a 3-0 performance. At sabre, Sean Haritonides and Gabriel Morales closed out the win by going 2-1 apiece. Riley Parker and Patrick Nohilly each recorded two victories at epee, with Donovan Aggeler adding one.

Epee was the difference against Navy, as Stevens went a perfect 9-0 in the weapon. Parker, Aggeler, and Skanda Krishnan each went 3-0 against the Midshipmen. Foil provided key depth, with five different fencers earning victories. Dev Badlani, Ricardo Pires, and Vishnevsky went 1-1, while Nick Reznick and Kandagadla posted 1-0 records. Depew sealed the win with a 2-1 mark at sabre.

Stevens edged Maryland by a single bout behind a strong showing at epee, finishing 7-2 in the weapon. Esat Adiloglu led the way with a 3-0 performance, while Nohilly went 2-1 and Parker added a 2-0 mark. Foil secured a narrow 5-4 advantage, paced by a 2-0 effort from Pires. Graham Shambarger, Reznick, and Kandagadla each added one victory, while Depew capped the win with a 3-0 showing at sabre.

In the setback against Haverford, Stevens combined for nine wins between epee and sabre. Depew earned multiple victories at sabre, while Parker went a perfect 3-0 at epee. Aggeler and Krishnan added solo wins at epee, with Morales and Haritonides each picking up a victory at sabre. Against Johns Hopkins, Reznick and Badlani highlighted the Ducks' efforts, each going 2-1 at foil.

UP NEXT
The Ducks return to the strips next Sunday in Philadelphia, Pa., competing at the Temple Open against Temple, Princeton, and Penn State.
