Stanich Earns Second Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week Honor

LANCASTER, Pa. (January 14, 2019)  – Stevens Institute of Technology junior Troy Stanich was named Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Week Monday, the league office announced. It's the fourth career weekly honor for the Roxbury, New Jersey native and second of the season after Stanich was previously recognized by the conference on Dec. 3.

Stanich, the nation's top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds by both the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) and d3wrestle.com, had a perfect 6-0 week for the Ducks, opening his week with a decision victory over Loras College's Clint Lembeck in Stevens' dual with the Duhawks. Lember is ranked sixth by the NWCA and seventh by d3wrestle.com. Stanich capped his week with five victories, all coming with bonus points, en route to the 141-pound individual title at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational. It's the third straight season that in which the junior has claimed an individual title at the prestigious event.

Up Next: Stevens opens Centennial Conference action with duals against Gettysburg and McDaniel on Jan. 19.
