The Basics
  • The lead: Senior Nicholas DiMaria broke his own school record in the 300-meter dash to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team Saturday at The College of New Jersey Indoor Open.
  • Location: New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory - New York, New York
  • Short Story: DiMaria completed the 300-meter dash in a time of 35.34 seconds, placing third out of field of 43 runners. The Spotswood, New Jersey native bested his own record 35.57 seconds in the event, set last season at the same event. Since his first indoor 300 in 2017, DiMaria has trimmed nearly a second-and-a-half off his time in the 300.

  • The Ducks' 4x400-meter relay time of 3:27.27 was good for third out of 14 teams. The quartet of seniors Daniel Kaba and Raouf Laadem, junior Amar Bindra and DiMaria finished just five-hundredths-of-a-second out of second.

Harden's Thoughts
  • "What a fantastic way to start the season! It was truly an incredible meet in all event groups as our coed team achieved over 30 new personal bests and set three school records. We have a super talented group of freshmen and it was great to see them in action for the first time. They have bolstered the strength and depth of our team significantly."
  • "Nick DiMaria has been doing an outstanding job leading our sprint group and entire team this fall and it was thrilling to see his hard work pay off in the form of another school record."
  • "Amar Bindra had a big day, setting personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles, 300-meter dash and running our fastest split on the 4x400-meter relay."
  • "Max McCauley led the way for us in both throwing events, and Joey Pastor set personal bests in all four of his attempts in the Weight Throw, qualifying for MAC's."
