CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (February 3, 2019) — Senior
Amanda Choy registered her 200th victory as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team finished 4-1 at the Eric Sollee Invitational at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Sunday.
In their toughest meet so far this season, the Ducks topped Brandeis University (16-11), Brown University (17-10), Yeshiva University (26-1), and MIT (17-10). Stevens only fell to Boston College, 16-11.
Epee
- The epee group defeated Brown 7-2 and went 8-1 against both Yeshiva and MIT.
- Senior Julie McEldoon led the Ducks at epee with her 11-4 record.
- Classmate Amanda Choy followed close behind, finishing at 10-3.
- Junior Teny Odaimi finished with a record of 9-4.
Foil
- Foil defeated Brown 5-4 and swept Yeshiva 9-0.
- Freshman Sara Persau led with a 6-5 record.
- Junior Allison Urban-Spillane finished at 4-2, followed by classmate Caitlin Uang with a 3-1 record.
- Freshman Ashley Yu was the only undefeated Duck for the day with her 2-0 finish.
Sabre
- Despite the team falling as a whole to BC, the sabre squad defeated the Eagles 5-4.
- They also topped Brown, and MIT 5-4 while sweeping Brandeis and Yeshiva 9-0
- Senior Michelle Drobish led the way with her 11-1 record.
- Freshman Kiera Barnes finished with a record of 10-2.
- Senior Julia Yang finished the day at 9-3.
