HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 9, 2019) – After dropping a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth inning, the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team rallied to defeat Middlebury College in 10 innings Saturday evening in a non-conference contest at Dobbelaar Field.

With Stevens down 4-3 in the bottom of the 10th, sophomore

After making the out, Justin Han threw the ball into Hayden Smith at third base, who turned and fired over the top of second baseman Andrew Gough's head, allowing Gherardi to sprint past second and third to score the winning run of the game.
"Well, it was a wild one tonight and we snuck away with a win," stated head baseball coach
Kristaps Aldins. "Baseball can be such a momentum-driven sport and after we gave up a 3-1 lead in the 9th, we found a way to grab [the momentum] back. That's a good sign for us as this is not an easy thing to do. There were so many contributions across the board and too many individuals to mention, so we'll just go ahead and sum it up as exactly what is was: a feel-good TEAM win."
Middlebury scored the first run of the game when Sam Graf hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Han to score in the top of the first inning. The Ducks then earned their first two runs in bottom of the inning after freshman
Tom James hit his first collegiate double to bring in Hanley and junior
A.J. Falconite.
Sophomore
Joseph Deitz (1-0) earned the win after pitching the final 1.2 innings and striking out one batter. Senior
Danny Poidomani started the game on the mound for the Ducks, registering eight strikeouts in the first five innings.
