HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 9, 2020) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team celebrated Senior Day with a pair of victories over New Jersey Institute of Technology and Fairleigh Dickinson University Sunday in the Stevens Invitational.
The Ducks defeated both teams by a 20-7 final score and moved to 28-7 overall on the season. Stevens now sits just four wins from setting a new program record from setting a new program record for wins in a single season.
The sabre squad led the way for Stevens, posting a 16-2 record over two bouts while foil finished 14-4 and epee went 10-8.
Individually, sophomore
Kiera Barnes finished with a perfect 6-0 record and junior
Chrissy Drobish went 5-1 at sabre. At foil, seniors
Nicole Strezewski and
Allison Urban-Spillane produced 4-2 records while freshman
Claire McNeill and senior
Teny Odaimi also had four wins apiece.
Strezewski now had 190 total bout victories in her career and is just 10 shy of becoming the fourth foilest in program history to reach 200 wins.

Vs. FDU (Win 20-7)
- At epee, McNeill and Odaimi both produced two wins apiece as the Ducks dropped a narrow 5-4 bout.
- Urban-Spillane went 3-0 while Uang and Strezewski added a pair of victories each as Stevens won 7-2 at foil.
- Stevens took home a perfect 9-0 win at sabre thanks to three wins each by Barnes, Drobish and Bayla Gellerstein.
Vs. NJIT (Win 20-7)
- The Ducks defeated NJIT, who received votes in the latest CollegeFencing360.com poll, after falling to the Highlanders 18-9 earlier this season.
- Stevens took home a 6-3 win at epee as Leigha Capra, McNeill and Odaimi all won two bouts each.
- The foil squad grabbed a 7-2 victory thanks to two wins each from Kayleigh Kubit, Sara Persau and Strezewski as well as a single win by Urban-Spillane.
- The Ducks also won 7-2 at sabre after Barnes went 3-0 and Drobish and Kian Wissemann both finished 2-1.

- The Ducks compete again Sunday, Feb. 16 in the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference Championships starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Stevens will take on Yeshiva University, Haverford College, Hunter College, The City College of New York, Vassar College, Johns Hopkins University and Drew University in the meet.
